Winding through tropical monsoon forests, following the stream to waterfalls, and exploring ecology through joyful learning, this site highlights the sustainable coexistence of land and people. Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area lies in the mountain zone between the Central Mountain Range and the Hengchun Peninsula. The Neimen Stream runs through it, and the varied terrain and waterways have created a rich ecological setting with tropical rainforest, subtropical rainforest, tropical monsoon rainforest, and warm-temperate forest communities, along with diverse species. The area is also home to Paiwan communities, and traces of their indigenous cultural heritage can still be seen within the park.
Getting There
[By car] Route 1: Take National Freeway No. 3 to the Nanzhou Interchange, then follow Provincial Highway 17 to Fangliao, then Fenggang, then Provincial Highway 9. Turn right in front of the FamilyMart convenience store to enter Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area.[By car] Route 2: From Taitung, follow Provincial Highway 9 to Zhiben, then Taimali, then Taiwu. After passing the FamilyMart convenience store, turn left to enter Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area.[Public transportation] Take the Kaohsiung-to-Taitung coach operated by Kuo-Kuang Bus, route 1778 (Kaohsiung–Taitung), and get off at Shuangliu Station (it is recommended to tell the driver in advance that you want to get off at the entrance to Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area).
