Overview
Riding a century-old railway into forestry culture, and wandering through the green mountains and waters of Lanyang, we live alongside nature in the city. Located inside the Luodong Forestry Cultural Park, this was once an important transfer hub for the Taipingshan Forest District during the heyday of Taiwan’s timber industry. Buildings and industrial relics from the Japanese colonial era remain today, including log-hauling trains, railway artifacts, and Zhu Lin Station. The former log pond has been transformed into an ecological pond, and the mix of aquatic and terrestrial environments creates diverse habitats with rich biodiversity.

Travel Tips
1. Recommended visiting time: Plan for half a day to a full day. Morning or afternoon light is softer and better for strolling the trails and observing ecology. Weekdays are less crowded than weekends, but school group visits may occur during educational periods. If you prefer a quieter visit, avoid weekday mornings during the school term. 2. Best season and weather: Spring and autumn are more comfortable for extended outdoor activities. Summers are hot, so visiting in the morning or before sunset is recommended, along with sun protection and hydration. In winter, the northeast monsoon brings abundant rainfall, creating richer wetland and bird ecology. If you do not mind rainy weather, you can experience a different seasonal landscape. 3. What to bring: Pack a light raincoat or umbrella, sun protection, a hat, and drinking water. Wear comfortable walking shoes for moving around the park and sightseeing. If you plan to observe wildlife, bring binoculars, a simple field guide, or a notebook to record birds and insects. 4. Suitable visitors: This site is especially suitable for families, student groups, travelers interested in forestry history and natural ecology, and visitors of all ages.
