This is one of the best places to admire Kinmen Bridge; on clear days, you can photograph the bridge and the setting sun in the same frame. The site is also roomy, easy to park at, and highly photogenic, making it well worth a visit.

Highlights

Huxia Seawall is a popular scenic seawall spot for close-up views of Kinmen Bridge at sunset and the sea scenery of the Kinmen-Xiamen area. Located beside Huxia Village in Jinning Township, it is only a few minutes' walk away. The wide view lets visitors capture Kinmen Bridge, the sunset, and the oyster-farming landscape of the tidal flats at the same time. With its colorful railings and wooden boardwalk transformed into a “Rainbow Walk,” it has also become one of Kinmen's most popular recent check-in spots. The site once had a background tied to military restrictions and an oyster-farmer checkpoint, but today it has been transformed into a leisure space for walking, jogging, cycling, and birdwatching, blending a strong wartime cultural atmosphere with natural ecology.

What to See

1. Kinmen Bridge and sunset views: The healing scene of Kinmen Bridge framed together with the setting sun is the most iconic view at Huxia Seawall. On clear days, the seawall faces west, and at low tide visitors can photograph the bridge, the sea, and the lines of the tidal flats in one composition, making it a favorite setting for photographers and couples. 2. Rainbow Walk wooden boardwalk: The wooden boardwalk extending toward Ci Dyke was upgraded as a whole and redesigned with colorful railings into a striking “Rainbow Walk.” The railings show a vivid rainbow gradient up close and appear softly color-washed from a distance, making it a new photo hotspot while also providing residents and visitors with a route for walking, exercise, and cycling. 3. Wartime atmosphere, oyster-farmer checkpoint, and military memory: Near the seawall entrance, a camouflage-colored oyster-farmer checkpoint and old military control facilities remain preserved. In the past, the site was guarded around the clock and controlled entry and exit, reflecting Kinmen's wartime governance atmosphere. Today, it serves as a backdrop for visitors to experience local historical stories. 4. Private cinema window view from the oyster checkpoint: The small camouflage hut by the sea, known as the “oyster checkpoint,” faces the Kinmen Bridge and the open sea through a window-like frame. Travelers describe it as a “private cinema” with only two seats. Looking out from the window feels like watching a movie titled “Kinmen Scenery,” making it one of the area's most talked-about photo spots. 5. Birdwatching and tidal-flat oyster-farm scenery: In front of Huxia Seawall lies a broad area of oyster farms and tidal flats. At low tide, many birds come to feed, including species from the heron, gull, sandpiper, plover, and duck families, making it one of Kinmen's excellent birdwatching locations. Combined with distant views of Lesser Kinmen and the coastline across the water, it highlights the openness of the Kinmen-Xiamen seascape. 6. Family-friendly leisure space: Simple children's play equipment is set up near the entrance, making it suitable for families to stop by briefly and let children burn off energy before continuing along the seawall to walk, look at the sea, and admire the bridge. It offers a family-friendly and easygoing atmosphere.

Travel Tips

Huxia Seawall is best visited around sunset to capture Kinmen Bridge, the changing tidal flats, and the evening lighting. It is recommended to leave enough time to stay from the golden hour through dusk so you can photograph a variety of moods. Visitors should wear comfortable, windproof shoes and bring a light jacket, as the sea breeze can be strong. In winter or after dark it may feel chilly, while in summer the sun can be intense, so a hat, sun protection, and water are recommended. If you plan to stay by the sea or on the tidal flats for a longer time, insect repellent and simple rain gear are also useful in case the weather changes. The seawall area is open and mostly flat, making it suitable for walking, running, and cycling. When taking photos, pay attention to safety and avoid areas too close to the edge or surfaces that may be slippery. Families with children can use the play area near the entrance for a short break, but should still keep an eye on children near the sea or moving vehicles. Self-driving visitors can follow the main roads toward Huxia Village according to the signs. Parking is relatively convenient around the seawall, but during busy holidays or sunset hours it is still advisable to arrive early in case spaces are limited. Visitors using public transport can first go to Jincheng, then transfer to a bus heading toward Ci Lake, and walk from there to Huxia; be sure to allow enough time for transfers and walking. If you want to combine nearby attractions, you can connect Huxia Seawall with Ci Lake, Ci Dyke, and the Kinmen Bridge area into a single-day route. Touring the wartime and nature sites in the morning or afternoon, then returning to the seawall for sunset, makes the trip flow more smoothly.
